“Sometimes I wish aliens would kidnap me and crown me as their leader” – Andy Smart
“What are we doing here,
Circling stars that are not ours own, anymore?”
The Others is an electronic pop-spectacle that features some misfit aliens and their cautionary tale of the future. With other-worldly vibrato, vocalist Andy Smart leads the audience through chapters of his own heartache andloneliness, with the use of projections, dance, and club beats. Reflecting upon what makes us human, the power of vulnerability, and the value of light in dark spaces. Get ready: The Others have arrived.
Teddy’s Last Ride
Art often takes itself too seriously, whereas pop does not take itself seriously enough. Teddy’s Last Ride is a performing art collective based in Groningen (NL) consisting of an artistic core of four performers: Agnese Fiocchi, Manuel Paolini, Milan Schudel and Andy Smart. Their interdisciplinary approach shifts the substantive focus of the work between drama, dance and visual art. Founded in 2016, Teddy’s Last Ride originates from the desire to explore new ways of theatre, in which an eclectic mix of ‘high art’ and pop culture appeals to a broad and young audience. Art often takes itself too seriously, whereas pop does not take itself seriously enough. You will find the Teddies somewhere in the middle, be it a club, a theatre, or a giant pile of sand.
The Others is supported by Station Noord.
